Essential Documents is an anthology of essential documents for the study of Jesuit history, bringing together translations published by Jesuit Sources. The documents published in this volume contribute to the Essential Documents Project on the Portal to Jesuit Studies.

Essential Documents is an anthology of essential documents for the study of Jesuit history, bringing together translations published by Jesuit Sources. The collection brings together foundational documents that have shaped the history, governance, and spirituality of the Jesuits. It is organized into four main sections: 1) General Congregations; 2) The Arrupe Collection; 3) Letters of Ignatius; 4) Additional Documents. To improve accessibility and navigation, the titles in this section have been clearly differentiated from one another.
